In this programme we focus on those building stones that are not only inevitable for a good comprehension of the field, but also provide useful insights each by itself. Insights which will prepare you for the rapidly developing world of big data.
Please find below the overview of session:
Data driven Decision making:
Data-driven decision-making is the process of using data to inform your decision-making process and validate a course of action before committing to it.
We often base decisions on just our gut feeling. We know that it is good to include more data in our decisions, but doing so also costs mental energy.
How your data can be incorporated into the decision-making process will depend on a number of factors, such as your business goals and the types and quality of data you have access to.
Prof. Dr. Lisa Bruggen is our expert in indicating which processes can be improved when based on data-driven decision making.

Ethical Issues of Digitalization
It has become commonplace to discuss the ubiquity of digital technologies and their ever influence in our day-to-day lives. The ways in which most of us work, play, learn, socialise, eat and sleep are increasingly intertwined with digital platform technologies and the algorithms that structure their influence in our lives.
Data-driven technologies and AI open opportunities for businesses, but the rights and interests of workers also need to be protected. Algorithmic management facilitates new forms of relations between employees and employers, or between platforms and workers, which need to be scrutinised and regulated to ensure that labour conditions and the share of wealth going to waged employees doesn’t further deteriorate.
Associate professor Dr. Darian Meacham walks you through the opportunities and possibilities of becoming more aware of the Ethical and societal issues of Digitalization and offers you insight(s) in your perspectives in your daily work.
