Data science and AI applications have developed in leaps and bounds over the past years with huge possibilities for organizations and businesses. However, with opportunities also come technical, ethical, legal, and societal challenges.
Federated analysis techniques, such as Federated Learning (FL) and Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC) are great examples, offering possibilities for secure, privacy-preserving data analysis, these new technologies also raise questions about who can learn from our data and in what ways? How do we ensure a legally and ethically secure federated analysis or MPC ecology?
During the course, we will address both the basic technical aspects of Federated Analysis as well as the ethical and legal considerations of data science and AI, asking what are the legal and ethical concerns that users should be aware of and how to find the right approach to questions about governance, ethics, and guiding values?
The Crash Course Federated Analysis is divided into 2 modules:
Fundamentals of Federated Analysis: hands-on crash course with leaders in the field!
The use of Federated Analysis techniques is rapidly expanding the ways that businesses and organizations can share insights and models without having to share sensitive data. FA is showing a way towards secure and ethical big data analytics, where sensitive data does not need to travel but allows models to learn from data sets without compromising privacy.
This crash course, developed by BISS, will give you a hands-on, interactive introduction to Federated Analysis techniques, showing you how they work, but also how they can generate value for your organization. You will work as a virtual node maintainer in a federated analysis network, while also learning first-hand how insights can be generated from multiple data sets without data being shared.
Our expert trainers will walk you through hands-on exercises that will allow you to grasp this important and growing area of data analytics and how it can benefit your organization. No data-science expertise is required, just a willingness to participate, learn and have fun.
Introduction to Ethical, Legal, and Social Aspects of big data and AI
Big data techniques and machine learning offer great opportunities for organizations, but also come with a host of ethical, legal, and social issues that need to be successfully navigated if the full potential of these technologies is going to be unlocked. BISS specializes in the socially responsible development and implementation of data-driven technologies. We are offering a half-day crash course to prepare our partners to confidently face the ethical, legal, and social challenges that data-driven and machine technologies bring.
This workshop complements our crash course on the Fundamentals of Federated Analysis, but can also be a standalone training. Our legal and ethical experts will introduce you to the key aspects of relevant legislation and show you techniques for addressing ethical questions in a non-intimidating and collaborative manner.
