How can a VR environment be developed in which the simulation adapts to the user, thereby creating adaptive, personalized training opportunities?
The high workload in healthcare remains a persistent challenge. Although there is no single solution, better preparing healthcare professionals for stressful and complex situations can make a significant difference. VR-STRESS offers an adaptive, personalized training in a realistic simulated hospital environment.
Extended Reality (XR) offers a promising solution allowing healthcare professionals to train through realistic simulations whereby sensors measure stress responses, enabling simulations to adjust to individual needs and create personalized learning experiences.
In collaboration with hospitals and knowledge institutions in the Belgian-Dutch border region, the project develops and tests different simulation approaches. By strengthening healthcare professionals’ stress resilience, confidence and decision-making skills, VR-STRESS aims to develop innovative solutions, improve preparedness, reduce staff dropout and enhance the quality of care.
