Prof. Dr. Peter de Kock

Peter brings energy, curiosity and a distinct creative spark to the BISS team. He strengthens the centre’s interdisciplinary character by connecting people and ideas that would not normally meet, opening unexpected pathways for collaboration across universities, industry and the public sector. With an instinct for spotting emerging trends, he seeks out unconventional opportunities that can amplify BISS’ societal impact.

Peter has a unique career path. As a filmmaker, he travelled the world and won several international awards. After a master’s degree in Criminal Investigation, he became head of several covert departments of the National Police. He earned his Ph.D. with the thesis Antcipating Criminal Behaviour and was appointed professor at Tilburg University. He is scenario writer, keynote speaker and founder of several AI companies. This background gives him a rare mix of analytical rigour and innovative thinking, allowing him to approach complex questions from fresh angles, spark new ideas and inspire others to explore beyond the obvious.
