David Wicker
Full-stack developer
David is a full-stack developer and researcher at BISS, where he uses computational methods to study European case law. His work applies citation analysis and network methods to understand how legal precedent develops and spreads across jurisdictions, contributing to BISS’s expertise in legal technology by building tooling that bridges research and practical use.
His broader technical interests span retrieval-augmented systems, semantic search, and citation graph analysis applied to large legal corpora, with an emphasis on building reliable tools for legal research. He is also interested in how computational and visual methods can be used to document and map histories of conflict, dispossession, and territorial change. David is completing his Bachelor’s in Computer Science at Maastricht University.
Outside of BISS, he supports universities in establishing scholarship initiatives for students from conflict-affected regions and assists those students in navigating applications and educational pathways in Europe. His documentary photography has recently been exhibited in Maastricht.
